"I think people have started to realise that animation
can touch adults," says Chomet. "We've all been growing with animation. We've been children before we are adults.
Drawings and expressions speak
to us.
But animation has been restricted and has been frozen for a very long time by the people who created this beautiful art form, Walt Disney Studios. They started from just saying, 'Animation is for children, so therefore we're going to make fairy tales.' And for a long time they were the only company to do films like that,
because they're very expensive."
